Bartow, Fla. (May 5, 2026) āĀ A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for Polk County Utilities customers in Waterwood and Riverlake subdivisions near Boy Scout Ranch Road in Lakeland. This is in response toĀ repairsĀ for a damaged potable water main, though repairs have been completed.
All water users in the specified area are advised to drink bottled water and/or boil water to a rolling boil for at least one minute for cooking and drinking.
This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until ongoing water sampling analysis has been completed. Polk County Utilities staff will issue a notice rescinding this precautionary measure once satisfactory results have been confirmed.

Update (May 8, 2026) āĀ Polk County Utilities has discontinued theĀ precautionary boil water noticeĀ issued on May 5 for customers near Boy Scout Ranch Road in Lakeland, Florida. Water samples collected from this area are free of contamination. The water supply has been completely cleared for use.
