Bartow, Fla. (May 26, 2026) – Polk County residents will soon have a convenient option for waste disposal in Northeast Polk. Beginning June 1, residents may self-haul eligible waste to the Northeast Landfill Customer Convenience Center Pilot Program, located at 4001 Bannon Island Road in Haines City. This option is available in addition to regular curbside collection.
Created as part of Polk County’s ongoing effort to reduce illegal dumping, the pilot program will make it easier for residents in the northeast region to properly dispose of household waste, yard waste, bulk items, residential construction debris, tires and scrap metal.
“The goal of this pilot program is simple: make proper disposal easier and more accessible for residents in northeast Polk County,” said Brian Cogswell, Polk County Solid Waste Division Director. “When residents have convenient options, it helps protect our neighborhoods, our roadsides and our environment from illegal dumping.”
Disposal fees will be based on vehicle type:
- Cars, SUVs and pickup trucks: $10
- Vehicles with shorter than 6-foot utility or enclosed trailers: $18
- Vehicles with 6-to-16-foot utility or enclosed trailers: $27
- Tires: $5 each
Residents must provide proof of Polk County residency. No cash will be accepted. Tap to Pay, Apple pay, debit and credit cards will be accepted. Commercial use of the facility will not be allowed, including automated dump trailers.
The center hours, beginning June 1, are as follows:
- Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
