Polk County Seeks Resident to Serve on Planning Commission

Bartow, Fla. (June 6, 2025) — There is currently a vacancy on the Polk County Planning Commission.

Advisory groups play a critical role in county government. Some are required by state law and others were created by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners to act as advisors in specific areas.

The Planning Commission reviews development applications for consistency with the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code, compatibility to the surrounding area and concurrency. Commission members serve three-year terms and are limited to two full consecutive terms.  Meetings are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month in the Polk County Commission Boardroom in the county’s Administration Building in Bartow.
