FIRST PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
SMALL CITIES COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
The City of Fort Meade is considering applying to the Florida Department of Commerce for a Federal Fiscal Year 2025 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The city is eligible to apply for funding in the Housing Rehabilitation, Neighborhood Revitalization, Commercial Revitalization, and Economic Development categories.

Construction activities funded through the CDBG Program must meet one of the following National Objectives:
1. Provide benefit to low- and moderate-income persons;
2. Prevent or eliminate slum or blight conditions; or
3. Meet a need for recent origin having a particular urgency.

The types of activities that CDBG funds may be used for including, but are not limited to, housing rehabilitation, demolition or clearance, road and sidewalk improvements, drainage improvements, stormwater improvements, water and sewer line improvements, public facility improvements, park improvements, commercial revitalization activities, economic development activities, and other eligible community development improvements. Additional information regarding the range of activities that may be funded through the CDBG Program will be provided at the public hearing.
In developing a CDBG application, the City of Fort Meade must plan to minimize displacement of persons because of any proposed activities. In addition, the city is required to develop a plan to assist displaced persons if displacement becomes necessary.

A public hearing to obtain citizen comments concerning the City’s economic and community development needs will be held as follows:
