Polk County Seeks District 4 Resident to Serve on Industrial Development Authority

Bartow, Fla. (Jan. 9, 2026) — Polk County is seeking a resident who currently resides in Polk County Commission District 4 to serve as a member of the IDA.

Each member serves a three-year term and continues to hold office until a successor is appointed. The IDA meets on an as-needed basis in Commissioners’ Conference Room 407 in the County Administration Building located at 330 W. Church Street, Bartow.

Polk County’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA) was created by a special act of the Florida Legislature to finance, by the issuance and sale of revenue bonds, the cost of capital projects conferred on counties, municipalities, special districts, and other local governmental bodies by the Florida Industrial Development Financing Act, Chapter 159, Part II, Florida Statutes, and to act in any manner that an industrial development authority created pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 159.45 may act. Under Section 159.46, Florida Statutes, industrial development authorities, are created for the purpose of financing projects described in the act and by Sections 159.44 to 159.53, Florida Statutes, for the public purpose of fostering the economic development of a county.
