Lakeland Residents Near Banana Road Under Precautionary Boil Water Notice

Bartow, Fla. (Feb. 3, 2026) — A precautionary boil water notice is being issued for Polk County Utilities customers in the Lake James and Harrison Place subdivisions in Lakeland, Florida. This is in response to repairs for a damaged potable water main that have now been completed.

All water users in the specified area are advised to drink bottled water and/or boil water to a rolling boil for at least one minute for cooking and drinking.

This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until ongoing water sampling analysis has been completed. Polk County Utilities staff will issue a notice rescinding this precautionary measure once satisfactory results have been confirmed (within 48 hours).

As a further precaution, the water lines in the area have been flushed. For any questions or concerns regarding this notice, residents may contact Polk County Utilities customer service at (863) 298-4100.

(Feb. 5, 2026) — Polk County Utilities is discontinuing the precautionary boil water notice issued on Feb. 3 for customers in the Lake James and Harrison Place subdivisions in Lakeland, Florida. Bacteriological water samples collected from this area are free of contamination. The water supply has been completely cleared for use.
