Solid Waste Disposal Fees Increased - Polk County Government

Bartow, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2026) — New disposal rates will take effect Oct. 1 at the Polk County North Central Landfill and Transfer Station in accordance with a resolution approved by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners on May 20, 2025.

The disposal rate for garbage will increase to $48.30 per ton. The same rate will also apply to construction and demolition debris. The rate for yard waste will increase to $38.33 per ton. All transactions will also be subject to a $10 minimum fee.

Under the resolution approved by the board, disposal fees for garbage, construction and demolition debris and yard waste will increase by an additional 5% each Oct. 1 through 2030.

The rate increases reflect rising operational costs and infrastructure maintenance needs associated with providing waste management services to Polk County residents and businesses.

The Polk County Solid Waste Division remains committed to providing efficient, environmentally responsible waste disposal services. The additional revenue will help support facility maintenance and operational improvements as the county continues to meet the community’s waste management needs.
