Polk County Fire Rescue Unit Involved in Two-Vehicle Crash

Bartow, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2025) — While transporting a patient with lights and sirens, a Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) ambulance was involved in a two-vehicle crash around 8:33 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, off U.S. 27 and Lucerne Park Road.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the crash. Both members of the ambulance crew as well as their patient were transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle involved was also transported to a local hospital for injuries.

One member of the ambulance crew was released after receiving treatment. The other member is still recovering in the hospital.

Southbound U.S. 27 was closed for several hours after the crash. It has since reopened.
